For
my money any recording by Saskatoon's Paddy Tutty is a joy
and a treasure.
Mike Ballantyne, Canadian Folk Music Bulletin
After being so impressed with her 1998 album, In the
Greenwood, I was eager to hear this earlier work by Celtic
Canadian singer Paddy Tutty. She didn't disappoint.
Tom Knapp, Rambles
Tutty has a strong, clear voice which is complemented
by the vast array of traditional instruments.
Dirty
Linen Magazine
Tutty's
trademarks are her true, clear vocals, precise playing and
complete respect for the music...Beautiful vocal arrangements
and some truly tasty playing...it's a must for any folk
collection.

In
the Greenwood
|
The
material on this CD, which spans four centuries, reflects
Tutty's love of traditional material and her beautiful arrangements
which include instrumentation on guitar, fretted dulcimer,
fiddle, anglo-concertina and harpsichord...There is also a
fine cast of back-up musicians from the Ottawa area.
Gene Wilburn, Northern
Journey
A
selection that both delights and enthralls...
In
the Greenwood is a quietly beguiling affair whose
treasures reveal themselves on further exposure.

The
Roving Jewel
|
My
recommendation is to pick up a copy of the
roving jewel, Paddy Tutty's fifth release,
and give it a listen. While the title of this release is
a reference to the first track, "Katy Cruel," it might also
refer to Tutty, for she is surely a jewel of Canadian folk
music.
Bob
Mackenzie, Sound Bytes
Tutty's
simple, straightforward interpretation of traditional material
has stood the test of time. She cuts to the emotional
heart of her material, giving a respectful yet meaningful
interpretation of the songs.
Dirty Linen Magazine
I've
always enjoyed Paddy's voice. She has a distinctive timbre,
passion which never gets out of control, masterful pacing
in the ballads where her voice alternately soars like a
lark in the sky and gently folds around phrases like a leaf
round a bud.
